Ara is an app for women's self-knowledge (hereafter "Ara" or "we").If you have any question about this Privacy Policy or about how we handle your data, you can reach us at:

Ara collects only the data you enter yourself, and whatever you explicitly authorise it to read from Apple Health.Data you log in the app (special category under the GDPR):
• Dates and characteristics of your menstrual cycle
• Physical and emotional symptoms
• Moods and emotions
• Energy levels
• Sleep (hours, bedtime and wake time, how rested you felt)
• Daily habits and whether you completed them
• Water intake
• Notes, tags and training
• Sexual activity, if you choose to log it
• Lifestyle factors: caffeine, alcohol, exercise, stress, illness and travel
• Monthly intentions
• Your name and date of birth, if you choose to add themData Ara reads from Apple Health, only with your permission: sleep, menstrual cycle, mindful minutes, symptoms, exercise minutes, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, and body temperature during sleep.We do not collect location data, nor information from third parties without your explicit consent. There are no user accounts: Ara never asks you to register or to create a profile on any server of ours.3. Why we process your data (legal basis)
Because the data you log includes information about your health, it is classified as special category data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, EU 2016/679). Processing it requires your explicit, informed consent.We process your data for the following purposes:
• To give you Ara's personalised experience (tracking your cycle, energy, emotions and habits)
• To show you patterns and reflections drawn from your own entries
• To sync your entries between your own devices, if you enable that option
• To send you notifications about your cycle or habits (when you enable them)Legal basis: explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.4. How we store and protect your data
Your data is stored locally on your device. Ara has no servers of its own, and we cannot access your data at any point.Syncing between your devices (on by default): if you use Ara on more than one device, what you log in the app can sync through your personal iCloud, end-to-end encrypted. The encryption keys live only on your devices, so neither Ara nor Apple can read the contents.What syncs: your mood and energy check-ins, habits and their completions, monthly intentions, notes, tags, water, training, lifestyle factors, sexual activity, and any sleep or periods you entered by hand.What never syncs: your symptoms, and anything imported from Apple Health. Those stay on the device only.You can turn syncing off in Settings → Your data, which also deletes the encrypted iCloud copy.5. Sharing with third parties
Ara does not share your health data with third parties. We will never sell it or use it for advertising.This is the complete list of third parties involved:
• Apple — processes the Ara Plus subscription purchase and, if you have syncing enabled, hosts the end-to-end encrypted copy that only your devices can read.
• RevenueCat — manages your subscription status. It receives an anonymous identifier and purchase information. It never receives your name, your email, or any health data.6. Apple Health (HealthKit) integration
Ara integrates with Apple Health to enrich your experience. With your permission, and only with it, Ara can read: sleep, menstrual cycle, mindful minutes, symptoms, exercise minutes, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, and body temperature during sleep.Ara writes exactly two things back to Apple Health, and only when you log them by hand in the app: sleep and your period. Nothing else. Symptoms and mindfulness are read but never written.Regarding the use of this data, Ara commits to the following:
• HealthKit data is used exclusively to provide your personalised experience inside Ara
• We do not share HealthKit data with third parties
• We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing
• We never sell HealthKit data under any circumstances
• HealthKit data never leaves your device: it does not enter iCloud through AraYou control at all times which data Apple Health shares with Ara, from Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices on your iPhone. You can revoke these permissions at any time.7. Your rights
You have the following rights over your data: rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent at any time, without retroactive effect.Because we never hold your data, we cannot delete or export it for you — the controls are yours, in Settings → Your data:
• Export my data — everything Ara holds, as a single JSON file.
• Delete all my data — erases everything on the device and the encrypted iCloud copy. If you use Ara on a second device, run it there too.Anything Ara saved to Apple Health stays in Health, under your control from that app. For anything else, write to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.8. Minors
Ara is intended for people over 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has used the app and provided us with data, contact us so we can delete it.9. How long we keep your data
Your data is kept for as long as the app is installed. Deleting Ara removes the data stored on that device.If you had syncing enabled, the encrypted copy remains in your personal iCloud so that a reinstall can restore it. If you want nothing to remain, use "Delete all my data" in Settings → Your data first.10. Analytics and usage metrics
Ara uses no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising SDKs. We collect no usage statistics and no automatic crash reports. We do not know when you open the app or what you do in it.If you write to us from the app, it opens an email you can read and edit before sending. It may include a technical report (app version, storage counts, and recent app events — never your health values). That email is the only channel through which any information reaches us, and you are the one who sends it.11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the app, in the services we use, or in applicable law. When we do, we will notify you in the app itself and update the "last updated" date at the top of this document.12. Important notice
Ara is a self-knowledge and wellbeing tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. For any question about your health, consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Terms of use

1. Acceptance of the terms
By downloading, installing or using Ara ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how your data is handled.2. What Ara is
Ara is a self-knowledge and wellbeing app. It lets you record your cycle, moods, energy, sleep, symptoms and habits, and it reflects patterns back to you drawn from your own entries.Ara is not a medical device, a diagnostic tool, or a contraceptive method. It does not predict fertility for the purposes of avoiding or achieving pregnancy. See section 7.3. Permitted use
Ara is for your personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
• use the app for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that could damage or impair it;
• attempt to decompile, reverse-engineer or extract the source code of the app, except where that right cannot be excluded by law;
• copy, redistribute, resell or sublicense the app or any part of it;
• use the app in a way that infringes the rights of others.We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive and revocable licence to use Ara on devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service.4. Ara Plus subscription
Ara offers a free tier and an optional paid subscription, Ara Plus, which unlocks the app's interpretation features.• What it is: Ara Plus is an auto-renewing annual subscription.
• Price and billing period: the current price and billing period are shown in the app, in your local currency, before you confirm any purchase. New subscribers may be offered an introductory price for a limited first period; where one applies, its price and duration are shown at the same point, before purchase. Introductory offers are available once per subscription group and eligibility is determined by Apple.
• Payment: payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
• Automatic renewal: the subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the standard price for your territory.
• Managing and cancelling: you can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your device. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period.
• Refunds: purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests are handled by Apple under its own policies, not by us. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Changes to price: if we change the price, Apple will notify you and ask for your consent before any renewal at the new price, as required by the App Store rules.If you do not subscribe, you can keep using the free tier.5. Intellectual property
The app, its design, its name, its logo, its text and its underlying code belong to Ara and are protected by intellectual property law. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you.You may not use our name, logo or brand without our prior written permission.6. Your content
Everything you record in Ara — your entries, notes, tags and any other content you create — is yours. We claim no ownership over it and we do not use it for any purpose beyond providing the app to you.As explained in the Privacy Policy, your entries are stored on your own device and, if you enable syncing, in your personal iCloud in end-to-end encrypted form. We have no access to them and cannot read them.You are responsible for the content you record and for keeping your own device secure.7. Health disclaimer and limitation of liability
Ara does not provide medical advice. It is a wellbeing tool, not a healthcare service. Nothing in the app is a diagnosis, a treatment, a prescription, or a substitute for the judgement of a qualified healthcare professional. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read in Ara. If you think you may have a medical emergency, contact emergency services.Ara's patterns and reflections are generated from the data you enter. They are observations about your own records, not clinical findings, and they may be incomplete or wrong.To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ara is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any insight it shows will be accurate.To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — this includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law, which are unaffected by these terms.8. Changes
We may update these Terms of Use to reflect changes to the app, to the services we rely on, or to applicable law. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date above and, where the change is material, notify you in the app.Continuing to use Ara after a change means you accept the updated terms.9. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.10. Contact
